Within the framework of the regional promotion of the Energy Conversion Laboratory and Power Electronics (LCEEP) talents, research papers have been presented at the Biennial Congress of IEEE ARGENCON 2018 that has been held in the city of Tucumán, Argentina. In this event, the postdoctoral researcher José Riveros has disseminated the advances designing ground units for power supply oriented to areonautic applications. In the presentations made, were presented the results of the bibliographic exploration in CA-CC power converters with both passive and active compensation, as well as an innovative topology for the considered application. The pepers were the following:
– Three-Phase AC-DC Converters with Passive, Active and Hybrid Current Injection Circuits – Part I: where different topologies have been revised for the injection of compensation currents based on passive circuits.
– Three-Phase AC-DC Converters with Passive, Active and Hybrid Current Injection Circuits – Part II: extending the first part, several proposals are described for the active injection of current of compensation that improve the performance of these devices.
– A New Ground Power Unit (GPU) Supply for Aircraft Applications: presenting the topology developed in the LCEEP taking into account the conclusions obtained in the two works above along with the requirements of the final application.
This work has been done in cooperation with researchers Johan Kolar of the ETH Zurich, Switzerland, and Patrick Wheeler of the University of Nottingham, UK. It should also highlight the participation of the student Daniel Faundez who carries out his memory project for the title of degree in the LCEEP. There was also an opportunity to meet with researchers from the Unviersity of Río Cuarto de Córdoba and the University of Mar del Plata to interact on ideas that allow synergy between the respective work areas.
